Governing Boards

Governing Boards

FPC Bridgeton utilizes a three-board governing system.  These are Session, Deacons and Trustees.

Session

The Session is the official ruling board of the church and consists of a Moderator (Pastor), a Clerk, and Elders. Elders are ordained for life and may serve communion.

Session Committees:

  • Christian Education - Sunday School, Adult Forum, VBS, etc.
  • Church Nominating Committee - Secures a slate of officers to be elected yearly.  An Elder serves as Chairperson.
  • Memorials - Provides guidance/oversight of funds donated in memory of loved ones/friends for special projects/purposes
  • Mission/Outreach/Publicity - Helps provide oversight and coordination for supporting local mission and connection in our community and world
  • Parish Life – Provides oversight for FPC’s social events
  • Personnel – Addresses issues relating to personnel matters, also conducts annual staff performance reviews
  • Presbytery Commissioner – Serves as FPC’s voting representative at all Presbytery meetings
  • Technology – Oversees FPC’s sound/recording system, website and computer system
  • Worship – Provides planning, assistance and oversight for FPC’s worship services through preparation of communion and ensuring the worship space is in readiness
  • Friends of Old Broad Street Church – works closely with Broad Street Cemetery Association and church history

Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees is responsible for leading the congregation in being good stewards of the financial and property assets of our church properties.

Board of Deacons

Our Board of Deacons provide and promote the Christian ideals, care, comfort, charity and love, within our church. They also do this for our community in Bridgeton.   Deacons are ordained for life.
