Governing Boards
FPC Bridgeton utilizes a three-board governing system. These are Session, Deacons and Trustees.
Session
The Session is the official ruling board of the church and consists of a Moderator (Pastor), a Clerk, and Elders. Elders are ordained for life and may serve communion.
Session Committees:

Christian Education - Sunday School, Adult Forum, VBS, etc.
- Church Nominating Committee - Secures a slate of officers to be elected yearly. An Elder serves as Chairperson.
- Memorials - Provides guidance/oversight of funds donated in memory of loved ones/friends for special projects/purposes
- Mission/Outreach/Publicity - Helps provide oversight and coordination for supporting local mission and connection in our community and world
- Parish Life – Provides oversight for FPC’s social events
- Personnel – Addresses issues relating to personnel matters, also conducts annual staff performance reviews
- Presbytery Commissioner – Serves as FPC’s voting representative at all Presbytery meetings
- Technology – Oversees FPC’s sound/recording system, website and computer system
- Worship – Provides planning, assistance and oversight for FPC’s worship services through preparation of communion and ensuring the worship space is in readiness
- Friends of Old Broad Street Church – works closely with Broad Street Cemetery Association and church history
Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees is responsible for leading the congregation in being good stewards of the financial and property assets of our church properties.
Board of Deacons
Our Board of Deacons provide and promote the Christian ideals, care, comfort, charity and love, within our church. They also do this for our community in Bridgeton. Deacons are ordained for life.
Our members and friends provide participation in/for our church in the areas of:

Building and Grounds
- Finance
- Mission/Outreach/Publicity
- Broad Street Cemetery Association
- Friends of Old Broad Street Church
- Sunday coffee fellowship
- Caring for our members – cards, casseroles, prayer chain, visitations
- Worship – liturgy, music, visual arts
- Christian Education for all ages
Our congregation’s local mission work under the auspices of our Board of Deacons is experienced in our Bridgeton community. We support the following:
- Sponsoring Scout Troop #1, Cub Pack #1, and a newly-formed Girl Scout Troop
- Good Shepherd Dining Room/St. Vincent de Paul Society
- The Salvation Army
- The Women’s Shelter
- The Bethany Grace Shower Program and Local Food Bank
- Bridgeton Public Schools Students
- Collecting toiletries, socks, winter hats, mittens, etc. for the latter two organizations as needed/directed
